Hello Everyone On
May 1st we wished everyone
Happy Mayday! Read about the history of the day here:
At SPRING
we would like to send out fraternal greetings to everyone who knows
about, understands and celebrates International Workers day the
world over. Further to this, if you're not familiar with the history of
working people - your ancestors, then we hope you'll take the
opportunity to find out more, starting with the Haymarket events which
resulted in Mayday being established in the first place. It is a
stirring story- one that continues to move and anger as well as
inspire, and one which continues to be suppressed by governments
representing corporate interests around the globe. Read more

Cody Live From
Haiti
Currently
one of the co-founders of SPRING, Cody, is on an IWW mission to Haiti.
Read below to find out what the man himself is up to......
The IWW
was invited by the CTH (Confederation des travailleur Haitiens,
Confederation of hatian workers) in
the hopes that we would learn exactly
what work they have been doing in Haiti
since 1959 and the
recent tyranny of neoliberalism. Ultimately the CTH hopes the IWW will
be able to help in material aid and help in
forming links of solidarity difficulties they have encountered under
the Duvalier dictatorships and with the other
anti-privatisation organizations.
History
and Evolution of the CTH's perspective.
In 1959
the CTH was founded by Christian workers who were working in
sweatshops during the dictatorship of
Duvalier.Many of these members
were tortured, killed and forced into
exile
for their union activity. But a small
cadre remaining in Haiti went underground. They focused on two
objectives..read more by

"We
speak of
national interests, national
capital, national spheres of
interest, national honour, and national spirit; but we forget that
behind all this there are hidden merely the selfish interests of
power-loving politicians and money-loving business men for whom the
nation is a convenient cover to hide their personal greed and their
schemes for political power from the eyes of the world."
(Rocker,
Culture and Nationalism, Michael E. Coughlan, 1978, p.253)
Welcome
to the Spring Site!
Slowly
but surely our pages are
increasing in number, and content is being added, but we still need
your input! You could start by registering on the forum and posting any
interesting articles there for comment and on-line discussion, or you
could forward info for us to post on one of our pages about any
campaigns that you are involved in. A big bonus for the site would be
contributions from budding media critics on the Japanese English
language print media, as well as NHK. Further to this, Japanese
language contributions are vital and will be welcomed providing that
the pieces are well written and focussed.
If this is your
first visit to the site, check out "about us" by

pro-active role!
